Studio Nine is running two workshops this month were you will get to learn the basics and have fun. Classes are limited to 4 in total to ensure all participants receive the attention they need. Each course is for two days and will cover all aspects of
screen printing, equipment use, print binders, fixing details, paper and
exposed stencils, polychromic printing, flocking and foiling. Participants
should wear old clothing or bring an apron. Tea, coffee and will be provided,

Wildworks is looking for emerging artists to work in an arts in the community project taking place from January 15 to February 7 2009. Wildworks is an international theatre company based in Cornwall which produces unique landscape theatre and community projects. Wildworks has been commissioned through an exciting new arts programme called FEAST to lead an ambitious art in the community project in a select few towns across Cornwall. Each town project will be lead by a small team of experienced WILDWORKS practitioners. Working directly with members of the community we intend to gather memories, hopes and dreams for the future and, in response to this, create a series of interactive installations that will be open to the public, in February 2009. The theme of ‘Travel Agencies’ provides the opportunity to ‘travel’ into the past, the future, the imagination… We are looking for emerging artists across Cornwall, who have very good making skills, are interested in or have experience in working across art-forms and a strong interest in working with communities. The selected candidates will work under the guidance of experienced WILDWORKS artists. We would expect the selected artists to: Be enthusiastic and sensitive when talking to members of the community. Contribute ideas to the overall project. Contribute to the making of the installation. Be capable of working effectively both as individuals and as members of a small team. Where possible we will be selecting artists who are local to the area in which the project is located. Project locations are: Liskeard, Bude, Wadebridge, St Austell, Penryn, Hayle and St Just. The fee for the project is £1,000. You will be expected to work for a minimum of 13 days. In addition you will be expected to attend a training and CPD workshop on 15th and 16th of December, led by Wildworks, which will be an exciting opportunity to explore Wildworks methodologies and meet other artists. The Festival will be a contemporary celebration of the inspiration and potential for artistic renewal that fire can offer. For millennia fire has been an integral part of the creative process, from our earliest history it has been used to create and inspire many crafts, including; glass, ceramics and metalwork. Fire is a fundamental element in our natural and cultural world, it offers opportunities for transformation and its raging heat has played an integral role in shaping our history and our artistic development. This project follows on from the ‘On the Next Level’ initiative, facilitated by Art Shape, Gloucester, which involved artists and arts organisations across the south west. This role would suit an accomplished public artist who is excited by the creative possibilities of construction as a means of encouraging access and enhancing cultural experience. Grants for young artists and performers The European Cultural Foundation provides grants for young artists and performers to collaborate and network with other young Europeans. There are no application deadlines but applications to the STEP beyond travel fund should be submitted at least eight weeks before the date of travel. The Fund has a particular focus in 2007 and 2008 on promoting Europe’s cultural diversity. The fund is available to artists, cultural operators / activists, cultural journalists, cultural translators and cultural researchers. The STEP beyond fund will make a contribution to travel costs, visa costs, and, in certain cases, accommodation costs (through an allowance) of those awarded a grant.
