Date: 17th November 2008 Venue: Tate St. Ives Time: 10.00am to 5.00pm Cost: £12 to residents in Cornwall, £20 if based outside of Cornwall The Cornwall Visual Arts Forum full day event will be looking at perspectives on how artists, commissioners and curators place art in the public realm, within their own practice, the art world and the community they inhabit. Speakers include Locus Plus, a visual arts commissioning agency that works with artists on the production and presentation of socially engaged, collaborative and temporary projects, primarily for non-gallery locations. Further speakers to be confirmed. Cornwall Visual Arts Forum is a platform for debate and discussion for the contemporary visual arts. Managed by Creative Skills and guided by an advisory group made up of organisations, artists an gallerists in Cornwall. The day will be a mix of presentations from internationally renowned speakers, panel discussions and smaller group discussions. ________________________________________________________________________ Engage Seminar - Exploring Youth Friendly Practice Date: 24th November 2008 Venue: Tate St. Ives Time: 10.30am to 3.30pm Cost: Tickets £5, free to engage members This seminar will explore youth friendly practice in galleries through case-studies, discussion and youth led gallery tours, and is aimed at educators, artists and others working in a gallery or museum context. This is an Engage event coordinated by Engage South West area representatives in association with Creative Skills. Contributors include Georgina Kennedy, Learning Programmes Curator in collaboration with Young Tate Peer Leaders from Tate St Ives; Angela Blackwell, Curator, Thelma Hulbert Gallery and a representative from Engage central. The event will be followed by an Engage South West area meeting for members only. Engage is the national association for gallery education, to find out more about becoming a member see www.engage.org______________________________________________________________________ Build Artists Talk Date: 11th December 2008 Venue: Proctor Gallery, Cornwall College Camborne Time: 6.30pm Cost: Free Build resident artist, Emma Churchill, will be informally discussing her exhibition, the culmination of her fifteen week residency. The exhibition will be open to the public from 9 December at Proctor Gallery, Cornwall College Camborne. |
