Working Creatively in Cornish towns & Communities

This one-day training is for practitioners from across the County, but particularly in East and North Cornwall, to find out how to use the arts to work with communities in ways that are relevant, inclusive and engaging. Tough Dough is an arts organisation run by artists Alessandra Ausenda and Lizzie Black

We want to share best practice, widen the network of artists with whom we can collaborate in the future and support others to develop projects that meet the needs of their community. We will cover areas such as setting up a constituted arts organisation, working in partnership, marketing and promotion, applying for funding, planning and organisational skills and creative engagement with schools and community groups. We will focus on our current connection to businesses in Cornwall and how to work with them mutually supporting each other.

Following a practical creative session working in teams, you will invent exciting projects that will appeal to funders and communities. Through group discussion, you will develop strategies for its realisation in a chosen town or community. The groups will explore issues and problems that might occur through role play and discussion.

The sessions will enable artists to establish new contacts and networks and share skills with other artists who are looking at innovative ways of working in their communities.
