Creative Skills is a professional development agency with a web-based information service which includes the presenting of cross artform creative practice. Creative Skills helps creatives and those seeking to engage with creatives by increasing awareness, understanding and stimulating interaction with creative practice in Cornwall and the South West.

Creative Skills is part of Cornwall Arts Centre Trust Ltd. registered charity 292138. Creative Skills is registered with the Information Commissioner under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998. Data Controller Name: Arts Centre Trust (Truro) Ltd, Registration Number: Z5040163. Our register entry can be accessed from the Information Commissioner's Website.

You also agree not to adapt, alter or create a derivative work from any www.creativeskills.org.uk content except for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use of www.creativeskills.org.uk content requires the prior written permission of Creative Skills.

The names, images and logos identifying Creative Skills or third parties and their products and services are subject to copyright, design rights and trade marks of Creative Skills and/or third parties. Nothing contained in these terms shall be construed as conferring any license or right to use any trade mark, design right or copyright of Creative Skills or any other third party.

Contributions to Creative Skills

This allows us to put your information on our website as well as promote you via our printed material.

By sharing any contribution (including any text, images, video or audio) with Creative Skills you agree to grant Creative Skills a royalty-free, non-exclusive worldwide licence under copyright and any other intellectual property rights or similar rights existing elsewhere in the world to enable Creative Skills to publish, use, reproduce, reformat, amend and make available to the public.

In order that Creative Skills can use your contribution, you confirm that that you are the owner of the copyright and other intellectual property rights for the material or that you are authorised by the copyright owner(s); you confirm the material is not defamatory; you confirm the material does not infringe any law; and you indemnify Creative Skills against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by Creative Skills as a result of your breach of the above.

Creative Skills normally shows your name with your contribution. Creative Skills may need to contact you for administrative or verification purposes in relation to your contribution, or in relation to particular projects. For full details of when and how we may contact you please see the Creative Skills Privacy Policy plus any local terms where applicable.

If you do not want to grant Creative Skills the permission set out above on these terms, please do not submit or share your contribution to or with www.creativeskills.org.uk.
Communities (Outhere) and Opportunities +

In order to participate in and contribute to Outhere and Opportunities + you may be required to register with www.creativeskills.org.uk. Any personal information supplied to www.creativeskills.org.uk as part of this registration process and/or any other interaction with www.creativeskills.org.uk will be collected, stored and used in accordance with the Creative Skills Privacy Policy.

You agree to use www.creativeskills.org.uk communities (eg Outhere) in accordance with the following Community Rules. These apply to all areas and services of www.creativeskills.org.uk.

(i) About your posts and submissions:

Contributions must be civil, tasteful and appropriate with no disruptive, offensive or abusive behaviour: contributions must be constructive and polite. Material that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, offensive on grounds of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender or otherwise objectionable is not acceptable. If you use multiple profiles for the purpose of disrupting the forum you may have action taken against your profile accounts. No inappropriate (e.g. vulgar, offensive etc) user names.

(ii) Opportunities+ submissions

Contributions to Opportunities + which includes Notices, Events and Opportunities must be relevant to your own or others creative practice. Creative Skills reserve the right to reassign a submission to a different section or decline to upload a submission if deemed to be inappropriate. An email will be sent explaining why a submission has been declined.

(iii) Your Creative Skills Membership:

You must be over 16 to become a member of Creative Skills and Outhere community. All Creative Skills memberships must be registered with a valid personal email address that you access regularly so that moderation emails can be sent to you. Membership accounts registered with someone else's email address, or with temporary email addresses may be closed without notice. Creative Skills reserves the right to close accounts if any user is seen to disrupt any of our services in any way.

(iv) Legal requirements:

You may not submit or share any defamatory or illegal material of any nature on www.creativeskills.org.uk. This includes text, images, video or audio. Contributing material to www.creativeskills.org.uk with the intention of committing or promoting an illegal act is strictly prohibited.

You agree to submit to or share with www.creativeskills.org.uk only contributions which are your own original work. You must not violate, plagiarise, or infringe the rights of Creative Skills or third parties including copyright, trade mark, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights.

(v) If you breach the Creative Skills Community Rules:

If you fail to abide by these rules when using www.creativeskills.org.uk community, you will be sent an email which informs you why your contribution has been declined or edited.

Creative Skills has the right to temporarily or permanently suspend your Creative Skills membership and access to any other services offered by www.creativeskills.org.uk

Creative Skills reserves the right to delete any contribution, or take action against any Creative Skills Membership account, at any time, for any reason.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The majority of content posted on www.creativeskills.org.uk/outhere is created by creative practitioners. The views expressed are theirs and unless specifically stated are not those of Creative Skills.

Creative Skills has tried to ensure that the contents and information it provides on its web sites is accurate at the time of posting. It cannot guarantee the accuracy of contents or information contained in its pages and any person using information contained in them does so entirely at their own risk.

Some content (text, images, video and audio) displayed on the Creative Skills websites may cause offence in certain cultural contexts and may not be suitable for display to young children.

These terms shall be governed by English law and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

How to Archive & Present Your Work

a one day workshop for visual artists

Led by artist Alice Mahoney

What will this workshop provide?…

Artists will learn basic fine art archive and conservation techniques and how to tailor presentation and archive methods to their specific needs. This will include good hinging and display methods as well as options in framing and mounting, things to avoid, and how to make archival presentation boxes and folders for portfolio and archive.

There will be valuable tips on archiving, presentation and general care in looking after artwork in storage, when transporting and when exhibiting. Artists will identify preferred storage and presentation methods for their artwork and create their own presentation and archive box.
